Lehenga Size Chart (Waist, Hip & Length)

A lehenga is a three-part outfit — the skirt (lehenga), the blouse (choli), and the dupatta — so sizing focuses on the skirt's waist and hip and the blouse's bust. Many are sold semi-stitched with margin to let out, which changes how you buy.

    Notes

The skirt is sized by waist and hip. A lehenga skirt fastens at the waist and flares over the hips, so those two measurements decide the fit. Measure your natural waist and fullest hip; if the skirt has a drawstring, the waist is forgiving, but the hip must clear.

Semi-stitched gives you margin. Many lehengas are semi-stitched or unstitched with extra fabric so a tailor can fit them to you. If you're between sizes or plan to have it altered, buy the larger size — you can take it in, but you can't add fabric that isn't there.

Lehenga length is measured for your height. The skirt length (waist to hem) should end at the ankle. Standard lengths suit around 5'4"–5'6"; if you're taller or shorter, check the length and factor in your blouse and heel height for the final look.

    FAQs

How do I measure for a lehenga?

Measure your natural waist, your fullest hip, and your bust for the blouse, plus your waist-to-ankle length for the skirt. Size the skirt by waist and hip; if it's semi-stitched, buy with margin so a tailor can fit it precisely.

Should I size up in a lehenga?

If it's semi-stitched or you'll get it tailored, yes — buy the larger size so there's fabric to take in for a custom fit. For a fully stitched lehenga, size to your actual waist and hip measurements.

    What is a semi-stitched lehenga?

One that's partly sewn with extra fabric and margin left so a tailor can finish it to your measurements. It gives flexibility for alteration, which is why sizing up is safer than sizing down for semi-stitched pieces.
