How to Measure a Toddler for Clothing
Toddlers move. Lay flat for height, snack for the rest, trace pants for inseam. Re-measure every 2 months. Here's the toddler-specific technique.
The Lay-Flat Method
- Lay toddler flat on a clear floor or bed.
- Mark heel + top of head with painter's tape.
- Measure between marks. That's height.
- Distract with a snack/screen while you measure chest, waist, hip.
- Trace a fitting pair of pants for inseam — easier than wrangling a wiggly leg.
